Altar Q 14 by Oscar Valladeras

This cigar has a smooth Ecuadoran Sumatra wrapper. The bunch is firm. The aromas from the foot are very light. The cold draw is perfect. Today’s beverage is a Stone Vengeful Spirit IPA.

The cigar begins with a sharp sweetness and black pepper in the retrohale. The draw remains perfect and the burn is very even. The ale is a bit fruity being brewed with pineapple and mandarin oranges, but not excessively so and is complementing the cigar well.

A smooth earthy quality joins the flavor profile in the first third. This is a medium bodied cigar with just a bit of sharpness, especially in the finish. The pepper in the retrohale has smoothed out as well. The burn remains very even.

During the second third the complexity of flavors remain consistent. The Honduran filler from the Copan region is very smooth. The medium grey ash drops at one inch intervals while the burn remains even.

Approaching the final inch the complexity of flavors remains excellent; earthiness and sweet spiciness in a medium bodied cigar. The burn remains very even. 88
