Foundation Olmec Maduro Toro

This cigar has a slightly oily wrapper with a medium box press. Some sweetness is noted on the foot. The cold draw is perfect.

Initial flavors are lightly sweet and woody with an earthy base. The early retrohale is woody with black pepper notes. The ash drops every time I put the cigar down. The burn is a bit diagonal.

In the first third the light sweetness develops into a more fig note. Coffee notes have joined the flavor profile. The ash continues to be fairly fragile, but the burn is evening out as I rotate the cigar.

During the second third the flavor profile has settled into a nice mellow coffee and earthy groove. The retrohale is less peppery than earlier. The ash remains a bit fragile and the burn has evened out nicely.

Approaching the final inch the flavor profile remains very tasty. Lots of thick, tasty smoke from the medium bodied cigar. The burn is now flat even.

Overall an excellent smoke. Excellent construction and complexity. Paired with a Boulevard Barrel Quad Ale. The ale was a great choice; it didn’t directly impact the flavor of the cigar but was excellent. 9.6/10, Joe Bob says check it out.
