Mombacho Cosecha 2015

Mombacho’s Cosecha line is a yearly release with five years of age. The date stamp on the inside of the ring says May 2017, so the tobacco is aged before and after the cigar is rolled. This one was released in 2020, so it has an extra year from the humidor. The wrapper is mostly smooth with a little tooth. The cold draw is perfect. Tonight’s beverage is a Lone Pint Brewery Laser Kraken Rum Barrel Stout.

The initial flavors are medium bodied and smooth. The profile is a bit sweet with earthy undertones. The retohale is smooth with light white pepper notes. The ash looks solid and the burn is even.

In the first third the pepper notes join the flavor profile as well as being in the retohale. There is also a very subtle coffee flavor stirring in the profile. The ale is not too sweet and is an excellent pairing. The ash remains solid, although it cracked at about one inch, so I tapped it. The burn is working around one place on the wrapper.

During the second third the flavor profile remains steady. The burn returned to even. The smoke is thick and pleasant. The retohale remains smooth with light pepper notes. The ash remains solid to about one inch before it cracks and gets tapped again.

Approaching the final inch the cigar has heated up a bit but the flavor profile remains steady. The retohale remains smooth with pepper notes. The ash remains solid and the burn remains even.

Overall an excellent cigar. Almost perfect construction and very good complexity. 9.8/10, Joe Bob says check it out.
