Dissident Cigars are produced at the Oveja Negra facory in Esteli, Nicaragua, the same factory that produces Black Label Trading Company cigars. A beautiful medium brown wrapper adorns the cigar, which has a shaggy head that is tightly wrapped above the body. Light tobacco notes are present from the foot. The cold draw is perfect.
Initial flavor profile is medium bodied, distinctively Nicaraguan tobacco with an earthy base and toasted tobacco highlights. The ash looks great and the burn is very even.
In the first third hints of coffee and light cocoa appear. The smoke is thick and flavorful, with a smooth retrohale. The ash is holding steady and the burn remains even.
During the second third some white pepper notes appear on the tip of the tongue. The cocoa notes have gone, leaving a pleasant medium bodied coffee and tobacco profile. The ash developed a crack so I tapped it in the ashtray. The burn remains very even.
Approaching the final inch the profile remains very good. The ash continues to need the occasional tap off and the burn remains very even.
Overall a very good cigar with good complexity and very good construction. 9.4/10, Joe Bob says check it out.
