La Barba Ricochet Maduro Robusto

This cigar has a smooth dark wrapper. Aromas from the foot suggest earthy and cocoa notes. The cold draw is perfect. Today’s beverage is a (512) Pecan Porter.

Initial flavors are full bodied earthy with cocoa. The retohale is smooth and the smoke is thick. The ash is mottled grey and a bit flaky. The burn is even.

In the first third the cocoa notes emerge to blend well with the earthy flavors. The pecan notes in the ale are very light and don’t affect the flavor profile of the cigar. The ash remains flaky with some cracks, but held on until I tapped it at 3/4”. The burn started to run but evened back.

During the second third a light bittersweet flavor appears to blend with the profile, creating an almost liqueur taste. The retohale remains smooth and has developed a very light black pepper note. The ash continues to flake but the burn remains even.

Approaching the final inch the flavor profile remains steady. A very rich full bodied smoke with excellent flavors. The pepper in the retohale remains very light. Although the ash was flaky, the overall construction is very good, and the complexity is excellent. The Porter is a very good pairing.

9.5/10, Joe Bob says check it out.
