This box pressed cigar has a very smooth dark wrapper. The aroma from the foot is very light. The cold draw is perfect. Today’s beverage is a Santa Fe Brewing Java Stout.
The cigar starts out with cedar notes. The first few draws are somewhat mild but building. The burn is excellent. The perfect draw is producing lots of thick smoke. There is a light touch of pepper in the retrohale.
Some light spices join the cedar in the flavor profile in the first third. The pepper in the retrohale remains fairly light. This is a medium bodied cigar that is very pleasant to smoke. The burn is mostly even.
During the second third the flavor profile takes on a quality of a good steak seasoned perfectly and cooked over cedar. The pepper notes in the retrohale remain medium, perfect for the flavor profile. The burn is still very even. The coffee notes in the ale are not interfering with the cigar.
Approaching the final inch the subtle complexity of the flavors is excellent. A light sweetness develops around the edge of the flavor, almost like a dessert. The construction is also perfect. 97
