Foundation Introduces Two Cigars and One New Brand; All As Tributes

Foundation Cigar Company, renowned for its commitment to quality and tradition, proudly announces the launch of its newest brand, METAPA. Inspired by the birth town of Rubén Darío, a legendary Nicaraguan poet, Metapa pays homage to Nicaragua’s rich cultural heritage and the artistry behind its world-class cigars.

Foundation Cigar also unveils its latest creations, “Charter Oak Pegnataro-CT Shade and Pasquale-CT Broadleaf” cigars. These exceptional blends serve as a heartfelt tribute to the lasting influence and cherished memories of Nicholas Melillo’s grandfathers, whose passion for tobacco kindled his own.

Metapa” is derived from the Nahuatl word “metl,” which means “place of magueys (a type of agave plant).” The maguey plant has significant cultural and religious symbolism in Central American mythology and art. This was used often in Dario’s poems. Metapa is now known as Ciudad Darío in his honor. The Metapa brand embodies the essence of Nicaraguan craftsmanship and celebrates the passion of the country’s cigar culture. Foundation Cigar Company’s unwavering dedication to exceptional tobacco sourcing, meticulous blending, and time-honored techniques culminate in a cigar experience that captivates the senses and leaves a lasting impression.

Metapa will be introduced at the PCA trade show in Las Vegas and will begin shipping to cigar shops around the country come early Fall 2023.

The “Charter Oak Pegnataro and Pasquale” cigars embody the commitment to excellence and artistry that define Foundation Cigar Company. Crafted by Nicholas Melillo, Founder and Master Blender, these cigars pay homage to the unwavering spirit and timeless wisdom passed down by his grandfathers. They also serve to pay tribute the opening of Foundation’s new office on a 300-acre farm in the heart of the Connecticut River Valley tobacco growing region.

My love for handmade cigars exists only because of my grandfather’s. One was an avid CT Broadleaf smoker and the other loved CT shade. These blends are completely different than the core line of Charter Oak. They are richer and more complex.

Charter Oak CT Broadleaf Pasquale is a cigar that revolves around the renowned Connecticut Broadleaf seed, resulting in a captivating Maduro wrapper with a dark, rich complexion. This full-bodied blend embraces the senses with deep, earthy undertones, balanced by notes of sweetness and strength. It is a bold and flavorful choice for those seeking an indulgent smoking experience with robust character.
