Statesman Connecticut

This cigar was sent to me by the Statesman Cigar Company. My original plan was to make it a morning smoke with coffee, but I found this Voodoo Love Child trippel that is smooth and tasty, so I decided to try pairing them.

The cigar looks very well made; the wrapper color is closer to Colorado shade. Very clean cut and excellent cold draw.

Initial flavors are very light. Picking up a buttery wooden base with some lingering hints that I have to identify. The cigar is burning evenly and the draw is perfect.

In the first third the flavor, the flavor profile is classic Connecticut. Smooth, a bit buttery, with some subtle bursts of well-aged tobacco. The burn passed the tapered foot with no problem and the draw remains fantastic.

In the second third, the flavor profile remains as established in the first third. Still a very pleasant smoke. The construction is definitely on-point. The ash and the draw continue to be great.

As the smoke progresses, I think a coffee or a pilsner would pair better, but the trippel still works well.

Approaching the final inch, the flavor profile strengthens a bit, but the individual flavor notes remain.

Overall, this is a very fine light-bodied cigar. As a smoker of heavy cigars, I still think Davi and Attey smokers will find it a welcome addition to their rotation. 9.4/10, Joe Bob says check it out.
