Espanola 1996 Maduro

This is an attractive cigar with a slightly rugged dark wrapper. The foot reveals notes of cocoa and coffee. The cold draw is perfect.

The initial flavors are earthy with just a hint of graphite. The mottled grey ash looks fairly solid and the burn is even.

In the first third the flint notes have disappeared. The prominent flavor is the earth. The body of the cigar is medium to full. The ash remains solid and the burn has gone a bit uneven, but not enough for a correction.

During the second third the flavor profile remains earthy but not much else. There is a touch of black pepper in the retrohale. The ash continues to be fairly solid and the burn is still even.

Approaching the final inch the flavor profile remains mostly unchanged with just a hint of black pepper on the palate. The ash continues to be mostly solid and the burn remains even.

Overall a pleasant enough cigar, although the flavor profile is pretty much a one note experience. The construction is excellent. 8.4/10, Joe Bob says check it out.
